A Little History

I've been experiencing some pains in my chest for quite a while now, 9 months almost. They come and go, sometimes when I have them they stick around for multiple hours at a time and other times they are only around for a few minutes. The pain also varies depending on the day. Some days it's a very sharp, stabbing pain that makes it so I have to catch my breath, others it's just a dull discomfort. There also was never a rhyme or reason to when I'd get the attacks. At times I thought it was attributed to exercise, then I thought it was anxiety, the list goes on and on. Point of the story is, I had no idea why it was happening or if there was something seriously wrong with me. I had talked with my Mother about it and what I should do about it, she was as stumped as I was.

About 7 months of this happening I finally went to see a doctor just to get some blood drawn and do some tests to see if we could figure out what it was. I hate needles, so very much. I get terrible anxiety knowing I have to get shots or have my blood drawn. Just awful. I can not stand needles. Anyways, I went to the doctor, they drew my blood (ahh)and said everything else seemed fine and gave me a list of some things it could be. Not a very convincing list either, they had no idea why it was happening. Now I just had to wait for my blood results to come back. After a couple days of being very antsy to hear the results they called and said everything was just fine except for a lack of Vitamin D and prescribed some. That didn't really help much, I just decided to see if anything helped and if not I'd look into other options.

At first they seemed to be going away and not really happening as much. However, slowly throughout the last two months they started happening again. They weren't as painful anymore but it was just very uncomfortable and I was beginning to worry something was wrong with my lungs or heart. My mother and I had talked about going to the ER and they'd be able to do tests for it right away and we wouldn't have to keep looking for a doctor who might be able to help. I thought about it a lot, I did. I just couldn't bring myself to go, partially because I think I was scared of what they would find. Well, on March 13, 2013 I decided that I was done having this uncomfortable pain and wanted some answers to what it was. Off to the ER we go..
